Amanohashidate and Miyazu offer captivating scenery and numerous points of interest. However, for tourists not proficient in Japanese, a day trip suffices to experience their beauty. Many attractions in the Amanohashidate vicinity close early, around 5 or 6 pm, leaving limited activities beyond enjoying leisurely strolls along the coastline.
Optimizing your visit is advisable, commencing with the first train departure from Kyoto and concluding with the final train back from Miyazu. This allows for a full day of exploration while still enjoying the evening offerings elsewhere. Commencing in Amanohashidate is recommended, considering the expected midday rush at Viewland Park.
Upon arrival, visitors may opt to rent bicycles or utilize the ferry to access the opposite shore, exploring the shrines or perhaps Kasamatsu Park. Having personally frequented Miyazu and Amanohashidate several times, the allure remains in their stunning landscapes. Yet, for most tourists, revisiting may not yield novel experiences, making a single-day excursion preferable, especially when constrained for time during a brief stay in Kyoto.
For those allocating merely 2 or 3 days in Kyoto, it’s advisable to forgo this journey due to its time-consuming nature, focusing instead on the richer array of attractions within the city. Initial visits to Kyoto are better spent exploring its diverse offerings, reserving longer trips to Amanohashidate and Miyazu for subsequent visits when time permits.
